9 Things I Learned in March and April

Oops.  I skipped a month.   Maybe because I’ve had more opportunity to live simply with intention lately.  I consider it a gift.  I’ve been overlooking the importance of living the simple-ordinary because busyness can keep me from taking notice of these things.  I’m glad to be joining with Emily P. Freeman and other writers for “Things  I Learned in April”  Here we go – It’s so fun to hear your daughter learn houw to play the ukulele. It’s not an instrument you hear every day

What Do You Hold Tight To? | God Only Knows Day 29

You showed up. I asked you to join me and you did. Your light pushed through the dark shadows victoriously.  Your rays were distinct, bright, almost blinding – glorious. Glory! On our walk this morning, you pierced through the branches that tangle me.  I’ve felt so interlaced with big decisions, with family health, and other things that weigh a little heavier. You arrived though to start my day reminding me of your beauty and the Light You are that conquers darkness. You are

Get Up, GO, Deliver, Shine | Part 3

My arms  feel like limp noodle as I type this. I just did something I haven’t done in several years.  Too many years.  I swam laps. How many summers have I spent at the neighborhood pool with my kids?  I think 6 years and I’ve gotten in the water maybe 10 times. Before that, I was at the gym and didn’t use the pool. Goes to show you I don’t like it. I’ve been walking for exercise for several years but have recently gotten Plantar fasciitis and decided to try swimming again.

What It’s Like To Be At IF:Gathering at IF:Alamance

Over 125 women hear this girl say with a shaky voice while eyes welling up, “Where do I even begin?  How in the world can I put this weekend into words that can be remotely close to describing what a holy experience this is.  I do know that you are here for a reason.  I do know that God’s Spirit is present and among us right here.  In this time.  This place.” This time and place we’ve been waiting for, praying over and planning for was finally here.  There hasn’t been one day

    I Can Try To Explain

Last week my friend, Karen, and I had the opportunity to attend an Elon University InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IV) meeting on campus.  My mind flooded with memories from the many IV and FCA meetings and events I went to when I was a student there at Elon…not too long ago.  Boy, we learned so much that night from those students.  We gnawed on Ezekiel 37 about dry bones, breath, and the Holy Spirit in a new-to-me way but even more, we learned how these kids’ hearts are o

    What I learned in 2014

Today I’m joining in a blog link up with Emily Freeman at Chatting at the Sky.  Each month we’re encouraged to share what we’ve learned the past 30 days, but since it’s the end of the year, then I’ve taken some time to look back at what I’ve learned in 2014.  (Thanks Emily!) 2014 is over and done.  Looking back, it’s hard to define in one sentence all that happened and all I learned.  The ironic thing is that my 2014 Word was define.  My year-goal was to define my life missio

What I Read on My Birthday : Wait and See Day 26

The past couple of years I’ve chosen a word and verse to focus on that year.  I remember this past December when I was fighting a yucky cold and feeling achy, I was on the sofa reading and these words caught my eye. “Do your best to present yourself to God as a women who is fully genuine, a worker unashamed of your mission, a guide capable of leading others along the correct path defined by the word of truth.” Define.  That’s it!  Define. This year maybe I can define more cle

When You’re Stuck Between a Rock and Hard Place |Wait and See Day 23

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life.” Isaiah 43:1 You, friend are precious and honored in God’s sight. God’s vision. God has such an amazing vision for you. He sees you redeemed. He sees you as His own. He summons you by name. He says, “(Your name) – you are mine. The vision I have for you

Wait or Move? Part 2 | Wait and See Day 14

“Much good happens in the space where nothing is happening.” Christa Wells, singer/songwriter Living things move even if it’s just being still and breathing.  There’s life.   There lies open space where thoughts and ideas and dreams can roam.  While you wait. Yesterday, things I learned in a barn resurfaced and does today too.  I think they will for a while.  There’s still a few lessons from that experience that I still mull over and felt like writing down with a little bit o

My Vision. Literally. | Wait and See Day 3

I’m ready now. I thought I was last year but it didn’t feel right.  So I waited.  I didn’t post it.  I tucked it in a folder that was hidden under piles of other papers.  I had no idea what the next 9 months would hold but I knew I had to wait. You see, the past several months have un-expectantly been an eye-opener for me.  I recently have a new vision and…well…before I go any farther, I need to turn back the pages and go back to the beginning. It was March 3, 1993. I uncomfo
