A Prayer of Hope this Advent Season

{This Advent season as we anticipate the arrival of our Savior, Jesus, each week I’ll be posting a prayer for the hope, love, joy, and peace we can experience through Jesus this upcoming month here on my blog.}

Jesus, You are the King Messiah, the Shoot that came up from the stump of Jesse and from his roots, a Branch bore fruit which now gives me hope. Even though in this dark and scary world, this first week of Advent 2021, as I focus on HOPE, may You grant me the gift to feel true hope.

Help me to not hope in earthly circumstances or rulers of this world, but may I live with the deeply rooted hope that I can only experience when I have a relationship with You. When doubts fill my mind, You comfort me and give me renewed hope. You created roots to be hidden and unseen, yet they are strong and vital to life.

Lord, thank You for providing me refuge, my hiding place of safety. I’m told that every generation should set it’s hope anew on You, not forgetting Your glorious miracles and obey You commands – Jesus I long to set my hope anew in You, today, and every day. In this Christmas season remind me to intentionally meditate on the hope I can have in You, to relieve the hollowness and anxiety this season can sometimes feel like in the hustle and bustle of to-dos. For You are the God of hope that fills me with all joy and peace as I trust in You, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of Your Spirit.

Amen.

(Bible verses in this prayer:  Isaiah 11:1, Psalm 94:19, Psalm 91:2, Psalm 78:7, Romans 15:13)
