God knew from the beginning of time that this year, 2020, was going to be hard for everyone. How gracious of him to give us an extra gift this Christmas that we can gaze into the heavens to observe shortly after the sun sets tonight. As you know, an invisible virus brought the world to a screeching halt as if the earth stopped spinning. But our minds wouldn’t stop spinning trying to understand and grasp how a pandemic is physically taking the breath out of a small fraction o
This is an Advent season like no other. Never has there been a Christmas season where this entire globe we live on was at war against a minute germ that caused a worldwide pandemic. And I’m tired of hearing these words: pandemic, tests, wear a mask, COVID, quarantine, wear a mask, new cases, canceled, online learning, mandates, and did I include wear a mask? We’re grieving that traditions must be broken. We’re heartbroken not being able to fellowship with the people close to
With a cheerful “Good morning”, a gentleman held his hand out to shake mine with a big smile on his face. “We’re so glad you’re here and so glad your son will now be part of our Elon family!” We had received an email and invitation in the mail to come to the “Legacy Breakfast” before the Class of 2022 convocation took place under the huge, tall oak trees that shaded the couple of thousand chairs that sat under them on the oldest part of Elon’s campus. Something one of the writers of this study stated, “Prayer is the e
Here we are already in the second week of Advent. We still cling to hope as we long for some peace. The feeling of peace seems to be few and far between these days looking around the world. But hope gives peace that needs to be held tightly. “…be whole and at peace. In this world, you will be plagued with times of trouble, but you need not fear; I have triumphed over this corrupt world order.” – Jesus (John 16:33) This is a verse I need to memorize. To be honest, I feel
